MOVIE REVIEW

TITLE: My Life As A Zucchini

DESCRIPTION: 2016 French-Swiss animated movie about an orphan boy.

DIRECTED BY: Swiss animator Claude Barras

WRITTEN BY: French director/writer Celine Sciamma (Tomboy) with the help of Germano Zullo, Morgan Navarro and the director based on the book by author Gilles Paris.

STARRING:

STUDIO: Gebeka Films

MY TAKE: I liked it. On the surface it looks really cute but the story is very mature, dealing with everything from death to child abuse.

NOTES:
  • Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
  • This is the second adaptation of the book. The first was a 2007 live-action French movie.
  • Received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Movie. It was also Switzerland's entry for Best Foreign Film.
  • Earned a rare 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes.
