MOVIE REVIEW

TITLE: Slow West

DESCRIPTION: 2015 Western about a young Scottish man who travels to the American West to find the girl he loves.

WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY: Scottish director John Maclean. This was his first feature film.

STARRING:

  • Kodi Smit-Mcphee as Jay Cavendish.
  • Michael Fassbender as Silas Selleck. He also served as a producer. He worked with the director before on a short film. The two hit it off and are now work together to make movies.
  • Ben Mendelsohn as Payne.
STUDIO: Indie studio A24

MY TAKE: I liked it. Dark and quirky. Almost like a Coen Brothers movie. Tragicomic.

NOTES:
  • Filmed in New Zealand and Scotland.
  • Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
  • Cute Guy Alert
    • Twenty-year-old actor Kodi Smit-Mcphee. I'm a sucker for skinny nerds.
    • I know a lot of folks swoon for Michael Fassbender. And he does have a big dick. But he's just not my type. Daniel Craig is the same way. Too manly for me.
