MOVIE REVIEW

TITLE: Rings

DESCRIPTION: 2017 horror movie and third movie in the American adaptation of the classic Japanese horror series.

DIRECTED BY: Spanish director F. Javier Gutierrez

WRITTEN BY: David Loucka (the 2012 Jennifer Lawrence thriller House at the End of the Street) wrote the first draft. Then Jacob Estes (Mean Creek) wrote the second draft before Avika Goldsman was brought in to clean everything up. He won an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind. Next up: an adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower and the latest Transformers movie.

STARRING:
STUDIO: Paramount Pictures

MY TAKE: I didn't like it. Starts out strong. Oh hey, we're on a plane! But then it devolves into dumbness. I don't know why they keep trying to focus on Samara's sob story origin. Let's just focus on scaring the shit out of everyone.

NOTES:
  • Did well at the box office. Making $83 million on a budget of $25 million so there will probably be another movie soon.
  • Was originally supposed to be released November 2015 but got pushed back numerous times.
  • Filmed in Atlanta.
  • Cute Guy Alert
    • Alex Roe. He spends a lot of the movie shirtless.
