MOVIE REVIEW

TITLE: Grandma

DESCRIPTION: 2015 comedy-drama about an acerbic lesbian poet helping her granddaughter get an abortion.

WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY: Paul Weitz (American Pie).

STARRING:

STUDIO: Sony Pictures Classics

MY TAKE: I was surprised at how much I liked it. I loved Lily Tomlin. It was hilarious watching her call everyone out on their bullshit. But there was also heartbreaking because she was grieving the death of her wife.

NOTES:
  • Filmed in Los Angeles over a 19 day period.
  • Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival
  • Did fairly well. Making $7.1 million on a microbudget of $600,000.
  • Lily Tomlin wore her own clothes and that's her own car she was driving. A 1955 Dodge Royal, she bought it in 1975 for $1,500.
  • Cute Guy Alert
    • Nat Wolff is yummy as the obnoxious stoner baby daddy. He can knock me up anytime!
