TITLE: Sing

DESCRIPTION: 2016 animated movie about a singing competition.

DIRECTED BY: British director Garth Jennings (Son of Rambow, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe) and animator Christophe Lourdelet

WRITTEN BY: The director. He has a cameo as Miss Crawley the elderly iguana. His four sons have cameos as Rosita's piglets.

STARRING:

STUDIO: Universal Pictures. Produced by Illumination Entertainment, the creators of Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets.

MY TAKE: I thought it was cute. The music was very catchy. 

NOTES:
  • Was a hit at the box office making $625 million on a budget of $75 million.
  • It was originally titled "Lunch" but got renamed to "Sing" to reflect its musical tone.
  • Fifteen percent of the budget went to paying for the rights to the dozens of songs heard in the movie.
  • Currently holds the record for being the highest-grossing film to never finish first at the North American box office. Star Wars: Rogue One did it in. 
  • Received Golden Globe nominations for Best Animated Movie and Best Original Song.
